time for a change

does anyone else agree that 2008 was possibly the worst year ever? and so far 2009 has not been much better. to start it off i had my car keys stolen on new years. they were in my friends purse and she got her purse stolen so voila. luckily she was able to get someone to come and make new keys for my car but i kinda miss my normal keys. but at least i have a car that still runs (knock on wood). a week into the new year i pretty much had my heart broken which ive never really had done before and i do not wish it on my worst enemy, thats for sure. things are ok now but life just isnt the way that i would like for it to be going at all. i guess this is just one of those times in life where we learn lessons about life and learn more about ourselves.

on a good note tho, i finally got a bed after having to sleep on the floor or couch since we moved into our place back in november. i was being a little picky because i wanted a cheap queen bed but finally the other day at my hotel i noticed people bringing in new beds so i asked the interior designer if they were getting rid of any queen beds and sure enough they were! its a hotel bed but its still pretty comfy plus it was absolutely 100% free! you cant beat that.

i just got my new phone last fall but i absolutely hate it. i thought the whole touch screen thing would be kinda cool (my friend has an iphone and i think they are great) but i couldnt be farther from the truth. dont get me wrong, the iphones are still great but my phone was just junk. im debating on whether to suck it up for a year and a half when im due for my upgrade or just buy a new one. i found one like but i really want to go to a verizon store first because i want to see it in person. it looks a little cheap but i think it matches me. if anyone out there in xangaworld still reads this what do you think:

current phone

option #1

option #2 - i just found this one and its not too bad

High School Musical 3: Senior Year

i officially started my new job on thursday. and each day has been slower and more boring than the previous. it is just because there really isnt much to do at the front desk since we really arent fully open yet. i have mostly dealt with construction guys and furniture movers. but my manager is away this week on vacation so i am sure once she gets back i will actually start doing some training stuff.

obviously yesterday was halloween. i went to a friends house, they were having a party. i dressed up goth. i know its not very original because ive done it before but nobody out here has seen it and everyone loved it. i even dyed my hair black! after the party we all walked down into town to go to one of the dance parties going on. i danced for awhile with some friends. side story: so im a pretty good dancer on the dance floor and people like to dance with me. most of the guys in my friends group dont dance unless they are drunk so i get the task of chasing away nasty guys who try to dance with my girls. ive gotten pretty good at noticing when they get annoyed and then i slip on in between and the guy backs off. anyways, i had to do that twice. kinda random, i know. back to the story. while dancing in cecilia's (thats the bar name) lo and behold but who do we see but jesse from the bachelorette. if you didnt know, he was the most recent winner and he lives here in town. i know people that know him but i had never met him. but i did meet him last night so that was pretty cool. also because i was goth i had on a spiked necklace and some guy asked if he could buy it from me cause thats how he normally dresses and he really liked it. i convinced him that i normally dressed like that too but i wanted to know how much he would offer me for it. he only had $4 so i kinda said no. after that we went to salt creek (another bar) to meet up with more friends. my friend heather is going to school down in denver but she comes up on the weekends and so ive met a few of her friends. the one friend of hers is absolutely in love with me. so i ended up dancing with her the rest of the night. or at least teaching her how to because she is not so good. i felt so popular tho because there were at least 5 people there from the rec center that i work with plus i knew some other people. finally we walked all the way back to the car and i drove me and daniella home and made us tuna sandwiches because we were starving. finally went to bed at 3am and i had to be at work at 7am. needless to say, im a little tired.

ps. i went and saw high school musical 3 with daniella. we were the only ones in the theater so we got to comment and laugh as loud as we wanted. i then proceeded to buy the soundtrack the next day. as if i could not get any more dorkier.

job update

i dont remember what the last thing i said about the front desk assistant manager job but i did go in for an interview before i had left for utah. they got back with me about a week after i got back and they did offer me the job. there were a few items that i wanted to clarify before i accepted the position, mainly because i would be working at one of our already sister properties as a sort of co-assistant with the assistant that is already there and we would be splitting the responsibilities between ourselves and the two properties. the reason for this is because there is nothing going on at the new property yet and they are going to be run by the same front office and general manager. this only worried me because i didnt want to be the one that got shafted once full time management would be needed at the new property. So after some deliberation and meeting with the manager on friday afternoon i officially accepted the position!  i will be starting as of october 30. its pretty exciting but a little nervous at the same time. here is the website to my new property so check it out. its pretty nice!

mormonland

last week i went to utah with daniella, mainly to see the 'so you think you can dance' tour! but she has a friend going to school out there so we visited him too. the happenings:

monday: we wanted to leave at 8am cause its a long drive but we woke up at 8. oops. we we eventually got on the highway around 10 and i had this funny thought that wouldnt it be weird if one of my turn signal lights burned out during the trip cause i dont know how to change it plus it would make the trip eventful. well, no more than 45 minutes later i was switching lanes and my turn signal started blinking ferociously fast which means that it is burnt out. freaky! so we had to find an auto parts store and figure out what kind of light i need. luckily i had newly acquired a swiss army knife from the hotels lost and found (i love the lost and found haha, see also $70 watch that i own) so with daniella reading the instructions from the car "bible" i was able to change the light and we were on our way again! i rock. later down the highway we encountered an accident that just happened and the car in front of me ran over a hubcap which sent it straight at my car and bounced over the hood. luckily sport was fine. when we finally got to provo we went to dinner for sushi, which i have found a new love for. we sat at these little tables on the floor, or so we thought. we sat down and there was actually a hole underneath so we could sit like we were at a table but we were still on the floor, pretty cool but definatly not authentic at all. afterwards we went to see indiana jones at the dollar theater. except because there was 3 of us it only cost us 50 cents each! we need a dollar theater in the mountains

tuesday: daniella really wanted to go hiking so we found some trails that went near waterfalls. they were pretty. and i also was traumatized. i was leading us on one trail when all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye i saw a gray snake in the bushes moving. i, of course, freaked out and ran back to daniella. she went and confirmed the snake and then she said the most horrible thing ever. "oh look, theres a second one." now if you know me you know i hate snakes. no, not hate them. i am deathly afraid of them. she kept hiking along while i was frozen on the trail. finally i just ran and caught up with her but i made her lead the way so she could scare any more snakes. we made it to our waterfall and started our way back down with her still in front. at a totally different spot on the trail she stopped, turned around and told me to stop while i looked in front of her just in time to see another snake slither itself off the trail. at this point i was ready to be done. we pretty much ran the last half mile back to the car. we ate lunch at a chinese buffet and then proceeded our way to salt lake city to go to the show!! which was just amazing. i decided that i will be seeing the tour every single year, except if i am on the show then i will already be on the tour . i also decided to take some dance classes to learn some basic moves so i can audition for next season.

wednesday: daniella and myself visited the temple square in downtown salt lake. basically its just a city block where the mormons established their first church. its kinda cool but a little creepy. the whole area is surrounded by a high stone wall and you cant go in the main church unless you are a baptized mormon. but you can go in the tabernacle which is where the mormon tabernacle choir performs and it is beautiful. they do not use microphones but the acoustics are so good that they demonstrated that they can drop a pin and you can hear it all the way in the back of the room. i also took daniella miniature golfing for her first time ever. you have to excuse her, shes from peru haha. i also bought a $10 pair of aviator sunglasses that make me look pretty dang hot. that night we met her friend back at byu to go to a play, pericles, which was interesting. it was designed for children but was still entertaining.

thursday: spent the day in the byu library doing homework. not fun at all but it needed to be done. when we were leaving i wanted to sit on the grass because all the students were doing it and it was such a sunny day. so we relaxed on the grass and i fell asleep. it was weird being on a college campus. i felt too old to be there but at the same time walking around with a backpack i felt like i still fit in. that night we had a big peruvian feast which consisted of some kind of spicy chicken, an egg/potato side dish, and a dessert of cooked milk. muy delicioso!

friday: driving the 7 hours back in a quiet car because daniella fell asleep practically the whole time except when something would randomly wake her up and she would grab the ipod, switch the song and then fall back asleep. it was funny the first few times but then got annoying because i was tired and cranky. we got back just in time for us to go to work at 5.

all in all, a very fun week and i was not happy to get back to work again. i am hoping to plan a trip to go home for a weekend at the beginning of november just to see the family before the season starts.

oh and i forgot, i applied and interviewed for front desk assistant manager at a property we are opening up this season right at the base area of the mountain. i havent heard back about it but we will see.

im retarded

so i just realized that i used the exact heading for my last post when we got snow, but that time it was only up on the mountain. and i used the same phrase in both posts too. you would think that with my brilliant brain i would have been able to come up with something more original and unique. oh well, what can ya do. must be the beer in me from oktoberfest this weekend!
